Founded in 1881, AAUW is the nation’s leading advocate for educational equity for women and girls. There are more than 40,000 members in the United States dedicated to tearing down barriers to equality and creating opportunities to help women and girls reach their full potential. Idaho AAUW has more than 300 members in six branches whose various activities further equity for women and girls.
AAUW was founded on the conviction that education is key to achieving equity for women. Our first study in 1885 helped open colleges and universities to women by refuting the once-popular notion that higher education threatens women’s health. Today, more than a century later, we’re still fighting to remove obstacles that hold women back. For more on the history of AAUW click here.
A major activity of AAUW Idaho is Lobby Corp, which works to further equity through lobbying in the legislature. Visit our Advocacy page to see what issues AAUW Idaho is working on and to get more information about how to get involved and make a difference.
